I am writing this letter of recommendation on behalf of Renaud HVAC & Controls, Inc. Over the past 4 years I have had the pleasure of working with Tom Nicalek and his staff on many important projects associated with Mercy Hospital. As you know any Healthcare construction or renovations project can be difficult due to the nature of our business. Mr. Nicalek and his staff have a tremendous amount of skill, ability and the know how needed to work in a healthcare environment.

During the last four years, Tom and his team has been involved in the:

• Complete renovation of our ED.
• Over the last 2.5 years Renaud HVAC has worked to complete the entire renovation of our 180 bed med surge unit.
• In 2011, they were chosen to complete the HVAC needed to the renovate CSP.
• Presently they are working on a 25 phase project in our ORs to replace the hot water reheat loop and controls to 15 ORs.

As you can see from the above list, Renaud HVAC has worked in some of the most critical areas of this facility. We at Mercy Hospital are confident in the abilities of Renaud HVAC and look forward to working with them on future projects.

As we just finished the Life Flight maintenance facility project, I thought that it was time to say thank you for working with us on another successful project. Over the past few years, we have completed several projects together. All of which UMass and Standard Builders has been very happy with. As you know, working in the healthcare environment, brings on new and unique challenges, nearly every step of the way. You have always addressed these challenges and worked toward a quick resolution. This memorandum is to attest to Renaud Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning & Controls, Inc. level of service, technical expertise and professionalism to the University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth over the past five years. Renaud HVAC’s level of service has been highly commendable. They have provided very timely response to our campus needs, routine and emergencies. Moreover, the service technicians are quite competent, well trained and have demonstrated that they may be counted on to accurately assess, troubleshoot, and repair myriad HVAC-related issues throughout our campus – a campus with 2.4M sq. ft of facilities with a customer base of 12,000+ patrons (faculty, staff and students). Renaud’s service technicians have become very familiar with our infrastructure and, hence, have become “experts” on our systems – something that requires a significant “learning curve” for any new contractor who is unfamiliar with the university’s systems. Lastly, from the many expert service technicians to the company’s account manager for the university, Mr. Ken Boutiette, the level of professionalism has been above reproach. Renaud’s employees interact well with faculty, administrators, staff and students – displaying a first-class commitment to professionalism and customer service. In short, this department recommends Renaud HVAC for continued consideration as a highly capable contractor worthy of placement on our Trade Labor Agreement Listing.

As a manager of facilities overseeing 14 courthouses in Central Massachusetts, I can heartily recommend the services of Renaud HVAC & Controls, Inc. They have provided excellent service to the Commonwealth of Mass Trial Court going back to 2003. I personally have worked with Renaud since 2005 in all of our Central Mass courts, and have always received superior work and service. They are currently in the pre-bid stages of new HVAC equipment install projects at two courthouses this month.

Renaud HVAC has been servicing our homes, client employment sites and regional support buildings for several years now. Their service has been excellent in the quality of service and the reactiveness to emergencies that we have had occur during that time. They provide service ranging from preventive maintenance programs to replacing a failed boiler during severe weather events. The response time is critical for our department, as we care for individuals with intellectual disabilities, as well as significant medical issues. Renaud has always responded to minimize the impact of environmental systems issues on our individuals and staff in a timely and professional manner, and we never have to worry about the completeness or quality of their work. I fully support Renaud’s submission for the new statewide contract TRDO1, tradesperson installation, repair and maintenance.

The Millbury Public Schools has used Renaud HVAC, Inc. of Sutton, MA for it heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) services since 2003. This includes completing all necessary emergency and preventative maintenance work at our three schools, which total 330,000 square feet. During my six years in Millbury, I have found Renaud to be responsive and professional. Their work is of high quality and they have helped me resolve many issues. I am confident that their company, both the project manager and technicians, can assist you with your project. Their contracts under my tenure have been publicly bid. Additionally, the project manager has given me some valuable technical insight when researching unique building problems. For example, Mr. Boutiette put together a proposal to help alleviate excessive humidity in one of our media centers. During the past several years, our university has been working with Tom Nicalek and his company on numerous heating and ventilation projects. The company offers high quality service and we have always been satisfied with their work. They are professional, knowledgeable and respond quickly and timely. Their experienced office staff and field crews have made them one of the preferred HVAC repair contractors. Their staff provides timely and accurate estimates and pricing during the development and bidding phases, and their field crews provide quality service within the required time restraints. We are a facility of higher learning, we house 4,500 students and on any given day, including commuter students, and we can have up to 10,000 students on campus. I have worked with Renaud for the past 10 years on multiple projects ranging in size from service work to projects valued at many hundreds of thousands of dollars. Looking back at my 7 years as Facility Manager at Millbury Federal Credit Union, I would have to say that the day I brought Renaud HVAC in to service our equipment was one of the best moves I have ever made. We had a new system installed as part of our major Main Office expansion project. The complexity of this new system made it very difficult to balance and it was not living up to expectations. Renaud’s experienced staff analyzed the system and made necessary corrections which resulted in a marked improvement in the building. Our four branches had been serviced by a variety of companies over the years and the result was a patchwork of repairs, also causing multiple problems. Renaud understood the issues and made the systems fully operational. In all my dealings with Renaud HVAC, they have always been thorough, trustworthy, responsive and professional.

Renaud HVAC & Controls, Inc. has performed DDC control repair, calibration and replacement work for the Town of Shrewsbury for more than six years. I have found their technicians to be well trained to work on a wide variety HVAC controls and equipment. Their paper work regarding billing and prevailing wage rates has been outstanding.

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you on behalf of the board and staff of the Willard House & Clock Museum for the excellent work Renaud HVAC performed in the installation of our new air conditioning systems at the museum. The new system is going to help the museum preserve and protect our collection of priceless objects for years to come. Not only was the system designed and installed with excellence, but your employees were professional, generous with their time and expertise, and incredibly careful when working around the objects in the museum. They were careful to be as minimally invasive to the historic 18th century building as well as to our day-to-day operations.
